Cecil Leonard Kinney
February 8, 1920 – August 19, 2020
Cecil Kinney, 100 years old, went home to his Lord Jesus on August 19, 2020. He was born on February 8, 1920 in Santa Ana, Ca. He grew up in Buena Park, Ca during the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Although Economic times were tough, his dad was able to buy a walnut ranch in Hemet, CA.
As the Nation Mobilized its war effort, Cecil went to work at Ryan Airfield nearby the ranch, and met Virginia Chester who was also working as an airplane mechanic. They married in 1943 and had three children.
Life dealt Virginia a bad card, who became mentally ill in the 1960’s which worsened as the years went by. Cecil’s strong Christian values kept him with Virginia the rest of her life.
After WWII, Cecil loved his new career delivering to gas to service stations all over Southern California driving his Big Rig Truck.
After Virginia died in 2003 of heart failure, Cecil kept busy joining the Bingo games at the Anaheim Senior Center. He made it over there even though he was confined to a wheelchair due to a broken hip. Also, he was living independently in his own house.
Cecil loved watching football, TV games and western movies and traveling to Yellowstone and the Eastern Sierras.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Hicks and son-in-law Dave, and by two sons Dwight and Dennis, and two daughters-in-law, Debbie and Kim.
He also has four grandchildren and seven great grand children.
