What Can I say?
What is the right thing to do to provide solace to those who are grieving? What is the right thing to say? How much should you try to communicate? Are there ways to facilitate healing? Over the next few months, we'll be sharing guidelines set forth in a publication entitled My CareLetter™ which is a compilation of time proven advice for those who are experiencing loss. We hope that this information will be helpful in someway when grief touches your life. What Can I Say: In a two part post, we will try to address ways to be supportive of those who are grieving. One of the most important things is to understand the circumstances around the loss. Mourning the loss of an elderly relative who had been ill for quite some time is quite different than the sudden loss of a young life. Being there for those who are grieving is paramount, but knowing what to say can be challenging. We'll start in this part with what not to say.
Don't Try to Lessen The Loss With Easy Answers
"She isn't hurting anymore," "It must have been his time," and "Things always work out for the best" are remarks that are seldom helpful. It's more important for the bereaved to feel your presence that to hear anything you might say. Remember, there are no ready phrases which will take away the pain of loss.

Resolved to Keep Your Resolutions?
Now that a month has gone by, how are you doing on your New Year's resolutions? Did you join nearly half of the population who actually makes resolutions? Some interesting facts show that people in their 20s are more apt to keep their resolutions, than those over 50. And, although the rate of sticking to the plan is high through the first week (76%) the numbers of those still holding on to their commitment wanes to just over 44% at the end of six months. Surveys show that the top four types of resolutions are, ranked in order, self improvement/education, weight, money and relationships. And, statistics show that only about 10 percent of people believe that they were successful in keeping their resolutions from past years. With that in mind, we think it best to follow the words of Henry Moore...."I think in terms of a day's resolutions, not the year's." Here's to making it a great day.
