Anaheim, CA 92805Michele Robin Rank was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, daughter, friend, and creative artistic genius that was taken from us far too young, having just turned 60, after short battle with lymphoma cancer on June 15, 2026, at Kaiser-Permanente in Downey, CA.
Michele was born to Sharon and Richard Landis on May 28, 1966, at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles. She spent her early childhood in Los Angeles & West Covina, school years in La Habra, moved to Torrance after meeting her husband Tim, and then to Cerritos where she resided until her passing.
Her childhood was the foundation for her lifelong love of family, friends, animals & wildlife, games (Mahjong and Canasta were her favorites), creating unique and beautiful arts & crafts (scrapbooks, jewelry, quilting, and mosaics), music & dancing, travel & vacations, photography, the color purple, giving to and helping others, cooking delicious meals, and laughing & living life to the fullest. Michele had many fond memories of times spent in Girl Scouts, Rifle Squad, being a camp counselor, and crazy fun adventures with childhood friends.
Michele’s proudest and most treasured part of her life was becoming and being a mother to sons Zachary, Maxwell, and Wesley. She beamed with joy at every opportunity and cherished the memories created on every fun & exciting adventure, family vacation, special event, holiday gathering, birthday, or simply playing in the rain and created bookcases full of amazing scrapbooks documenting it all. Michele volunteered countless hours for the PTA and helped in classrooms at Benito Juarez Elementary School in Cerritos where all 3 sons attended. She always made sure her boys did their homework after school, had fun with arts & crafts, maybe even enjoyed a snack or 2 or 3, and saved the especially difficult homework for dad – a very rare occasion.
Her artistic brilliance and enthusiasm for turning ideas into amazing creations along with the gratification & enjoyment she received from teaching others led to working for Close to My Heart from 1997 – 2014 followed by Moore’s Sewing from 2015 until her passing. With Close to My Heart Michele honed and mastered her scrapbooking skills and hosted countless parties to teach and encourage anyone interested about how much fun it was to create wonderful historical treasure troves capturing life’s adventures and experiences. Joining Moore’s Sewing led to her extreme passion for quilting where she received great pleasure and satisfaction teaching and inspiring customers, attending conferences and conventions/special events, and sharing her love of quilting. Over the years she made hundreds of quilts, many of which were given as gifts to those closest to her, receiving one was getting a piece of Michele’s shining heart and soul.
Michele and Tim met at Houlihan’s at the Del Amo Mall in Torrance on February 8, 1991, a fateful day that began a whirlwind romance that led their engagement 3 months later. They wed on February 8, 1992, a year to the date after they met, in San Pedro at Fort MacArthur. Over 34 years of marriage filled with deep & unwavering love, devotion, admiration, friendship, commitment, and being together hand-in-hand for every success, accomplishment, and challenge.
Michele is survived by her husband Tim, son Zachary and his wife Robin, son Maxwell, son Wesley, and mother Sharon Landis. She is preceded in death by her brother Tim Landis (1990) and father Richard Landis (2022).
The Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Michele will be on July 12, 2026, from 12 – 3pm with the service beginning at 1pm at Hilgenfeld Mortuary, 120 E. Broadway, Anaheim, CA 92805.
