Susan Ogden-Malouf (b7/12/54) passed away peacefully on the morning of January 2, 2026, in home hospice after illness(s) related to her fifteen-year struggle with bronchiectasis and Parkinson’s. She is survived by Jeff Ogden, her husband of forty-nine years, beloved daughter Carter Malouf Boghosian, son-in-law Waleed Boghosian, and grandson Isaiah. She will be missed by Cousin Laura Coronado, many in-laws (Tom Ogden (Linda), Susan Ogden (deceased), brother-in-law Bob Kreiser, David Ogden, Mark Ogden (Susan) Karen Olmstead (Frank), Nazar Boghosian, Ann Boghosian, Natalie Boghosian and many dear, long-standing friends from her personal and professional lives.
Sue was born in Los Angeles on July 12, 1954, the only child of Charles Malouf and Margot Malouf (Fish). She attended high school in Arcadia, California and then attended Stanford University, where she met her husband when they lived in the same dorm, and she cast him in a dorm play she produced. During her Stanford tenure Sue was responsible for restarting the campus student theater production company Rams Head Productions, that continues to this day. She graduated with a degree in Psychology and moved to Chicago where she completed a PhD. in Theatre Arts from Northwestern University. Following graduation, Sue was a professor of theatre at Bethel College for four years. She then moved to Philadelphia to head the theatre program at Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. After two years Sue returned to Minneapolis to start a theater (Role Over productions) with her best friend Pam Joern, to stage original works. Pam and her husband Brad became lifelong friends.
Sue then stopped out to give birth to her daughter, Carter, and to return to school to obtain a Ph. D in psychology. Upon graduation Sue worked as a therapist specializing in trauma therapy with Family Life Center and then Tubman-Chrysalis Women’s Health Center in Minneapolis until retirement due to her Parkinson’s onset.
Upon Carter’s birth and Sue’s subsequent return to work, Sue and Jeff were blessed with a group of friends through Carter’s home daycare that became “The Running Group” (Team Caffeine). Although Sue was not a runner, this group became a key part of family and daily life throughout her Minnesota years and beyond.
Sue returned to California in 2020 upon Jeff’s retirement to be close to Carter and Waleed as well as the ocean and mountains that she missed in Minnesota. In 2022 grandson Isaiah arrived, and Sue gleefully adopted the doting grandmother role.
Sue loved women’ athletics, reveling in Carter’s softball career which started at age five and which allowed she and Jeff to travel throughout the United States through Carter’s college years. Sue was a lifelong learner who was always reading and exploring life philosophies and mindfulness. She was a fan of fantasy reading as evidenced by her pugs, Merry and Pippin, from Lord of the Rings. She was a kind, calm presence for friends and family and was a support for many in need. She much appreciated the kinship that she received from her Dopamine Divas friends at Rock Steady Boxing who supported her journey with Parkinson’s. She was grateful for the excellent long-term support she received from her specialists at Kaiser Permanente.
Sue will be missed by many.
If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
