Carolina Gamboa, a loving and faithful wife of Marcial Gamboa for 68 years. Her nicknames are Ling, Lina, Diche Coring, Coring, Chic-ling, Deeshee, among others, but her favorite, undoubtedly, was “Lola”. In Filipino culture, this means Grandma. She is the mother to 6 children: Danilo, Donilo, Carolina, Butch, Al, and Marshall Jr. Mother-in-law to Jocelyn, Wennie, Kara, Jenna, and Mike. Grandmother to Westley, Dillon, Riley, Gerrick, Jacqueline, Geoffrey and Danison. Great Grandmother to Marshall, Ezra, Reggie and Elijah.

Born Carolina Martin in the Philippines, where she grew up, and attended The University of Santo Tomas, the oldest university in the country, established in 1611. She received her degree of Library Science from there, and also the place where she and our father met.

She was devoted in her Catholic faith, always gave thanks to God for everything she had in her life, and was compassionate for others less fortunate.

She loved seeing her extended family, dear friends, sampling all sorts of tasty food, birdwatching and gardening. Really, she probably never saw a plant or flower that she didn’t want to bring home and plant in the yard. Whenever possible, she liked to travel to see the world. She was a fastidious, and organized person in all aspects of her life, a diligent worker, and quite disciplined in the area of saving money.

Her greatest pride and joy was her family. All that she ever did was for God and family. In particular, she was the happiest when she was with the little ones. When she was unable to speak, her last heartfelt smiles were for her great grandsons.

Thank you for all you gave and continue to give us. We hope to honor your legacy. We love you. Rest in peace, Lola.

At Hilgenfeld Mortuary: All are welcome to speak about our dearest Ling, Lola, at the podium. Please speak into the microphone, so you can be heard clearly in the chapel, as well as on the live online broadcast.

After the Funeral Mass at St Justin: A reception at our home will follow immediately after the service, with a Filipino lunch buffet available around 11:30am. The house address is 2159 W. Niobe Ave Anaheim, CA 92804 - About 4 blocks from the church.

If you would like to send flowers for the viewing/funeral service, please contact Visser’s Florist # and ask for delivery to Hilgenfeld Mortuary by Noon on April 10th.

We respectfully ask you all to wear masks, if not for the whole time of your visit, at least partly. If you currently have any transmissible illness, we also ask you to pay your respects by viewing the wake online, instead of in person. Our father is about to be 94 years old, and any type of illness, even a common cold, could easily compromise his health. Thank you for your understanding.
