    Joaquin Baligad, Jr., was born on July 6, 1936, to Joaquin Agarano Baligad and Maria DeJesus “Jessie” (Durazo) Baligad, in San Bernardino, California.

    He joined the U.S. Army in November 1954, where he was stationed in Germany and then returned home to live in Southern California, where he met Mary Alice Jones in Long Beach, California. Joaquin and Mary were married in 1961, and went on to have six children: Kathryn, Donna, Deborah, Joaquin (“Jack”), Jason, and Eugene.

    After graduating from Long Beach City College, he started a job at North American Aviation, kick-starting a 35-year career in aerospace engineering.

    In 1996, Joaquin and Mary retired and spent their time traveling in their R.V. together.

    Joaquin is predeceased by his parents, Joaquin and Jessie Baligad, his son Jason Allen Baligad, his sister, Carmen Carney, and his brother, Richard Baligad. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Alice (Jones) Baligad, daughters Kathryn Baligad, Donna (Baligad) Schier and husband Jim, Deborah Baligad, sons Joaquin “Jack” Baligad and wife Allyson, and Eugene “Gene” Baligad and wife Diana, along with his sister Sylvia Bosshard, and brothers Fred Baligad, Tom Baligad, Daniel Baligad and Carlos Baligad. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Brian Lee and wife Denise, Wayne Elder and wife Sara, Jennifer (Stacy) Robson and husband Aaron, Kristen Stacy, Mark Baligad and wife Benny, and Amanda Baligad, along with five great-grandchildren.

    Viewing and visitation will be held at Hilgenfeld Mortuary in Anaheim, on Friday, November 18, 2022, between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at St. Justin Martyr Church in Anaheim, California, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
