    Born in Pasadena, California, John spent his military years in the Far East before making his permanent home in Southern California.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alpha Counts, and his brother, Ron Counts.

    He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy (Brown) Counts; his children, John Counts Jr. and his wife Lohriena, Derrick Brown, DeAnna (Brown) Van De Brake and her husband Mark; his grandchildren, Preston, Atticus, Chanan, and Elisabeth; his nephew, Ray Counts; his niece, Autumn LaFlam; and many beloved friends.

    John retired from the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Southern California Edison, and served on the security team at Cottonwood Church.

    Interment will be held on Friday March 27th at Riverside National Cemetery. Please contact the family for details.
