    In Memoriam

Leon “Poppy” Frerichs was born on February 12, 1937 in Le Mars, Iowa to Claus & Minnie Frerichs. The Lord took him home on October 16, 2022 at the age of 85. He had four brothers and two sisters and a large extended family in Iowa. He attended Clark Elementary School where he was a very good student with perfect attendance and no tardies – just one of his many amazing qualities that he instilled in his family. He loved baseball and participated on the winning Eagles, Little League and the Luther League at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He graduated from high school in 1955 and attended college in Le Mars. He served our country in the US Army and was honorably discharged October 31, 1963. His love for his country and the military was evident throughout his life. He met and married Peggy (Rosalyn) on May 24, 1966 and inherited three children, Scott, Michael and Sandy. The love of his life entered heaven on October 23, 1994 where he now joins her in eternity. They leave behind 3 children, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, family vacations to Iowa and Michigan and was an avid Angel Baseball fan. He worked many years in the Retail Clerk’s Union as a Produce Manager at Stater Brothers and Farmer Boys. In retirement he worked part time at the Anaheim Convention Center until he fully retired. Today we honor his life with much love and appreciation for all he did for our family. We will all miss him very much!
