Lorine Marie Kerns, 103, of Yorba Linda, California passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2022, with her son and daughter by her side. Lorine was born February 10, 1919, in the township of Monegaw in St. Clair County, Missouri to parents Thomas and Lucy (Gurley) Denney. She was a graduate of Anaheim High School, Class of 1937. She married Edward Kerns October 9, 1945, upon his return from WW II service in Italy. They alternated residences between Missouri, where the Kerns family resided and California, where the Denney family resided, before making Anaheim their permanent home in 1958. It was there they raised their two children, William and Janet. Lorine had various work including short careers with Pacific Telephone, Autonetics, and Astrodata, but it was her role as Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother where she found her life’s true treasures. She was always a voracious reader with an insatiable love of learning. The only thing that could even closely compete, would be watching her Angel’s baseball games. With a life that spanned over a century, her wisdom was profound, and she remained active, alert and well informed. Lorine’s kind, gentle, compassionate demeanor endeared her to all. She truly enriched the lives of all who knew and loved her. She was an active and loyal member of Anaheim United Methodist Church for over 55 years - living her faith, loving her Lord and Savior, serving her church and forming lifelong friendships. For over ten decades she was buoyed by her abiding faith and enduring love of family. Lorine was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lucy Denney, her husband Edward Kerns, sister Esther Bentley, brothers, Eldon Denney, John Denney, Earl “Dutch” Denney and Eugene Denney along with countless friends. Left to cherish her memory are her son, William (Dorothy) Kerns, daughter, Janet Ramsey, brother, Dale Denney, grandsons, Sean (Rebecca) Ramsey and David Kerns, granddaughter, Keri Kerns, great granddaughter, Samantha Lorine Ramsey and great grandson, Ty Ramsey. She also leaves behind a beloved sister in-law, Viola Kerns and several nieces and nephews whom she also cherished. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, October 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Hilgenfeld Mortuary, Anaheim, California. A reception will follow at Anaheim United Methodist Church. “For God loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in Him shall not perish, but have a everlasting life.” – John 3:16
