Ninfa grew up in Texas where she married her first husband, Jose P. San Miguel on September 4, 1954. Their son, Robert, was born on December 14, 1955. Ninfa and Jose moved to California in about 1956. While living in Placentia, Ninfa worked at Fenders and Claussen Pickles. In 1962 Jose was killed in an automobile accident.

In 1967, Ninfa and her sister, Eva, went out dancing in Los Angeles. Hector was there and had a photo taken of him with his friends. Ninfa and Eva were in the background of the picture.
