Delia Dominguez

Delia Dominguez was born on August 4, 1941, in Durango, Mexico, in the municipality of Canelas, to Francisca Fernandez Garcia, lovingly known as Mama Frances, and Pablo Sanchez Bueno. She was the eldest of four children and shared a close bond with her sisters, Irma Dash, Estella Fernandez, and Norma Rosales, as well as her brother, Carlos Rosales.

At the age of 14, in 1955, Delia moved to Los Angeles, California, with dreams of building a better life and becoming a United States citizen. She lived with her mother, grandmother, sisters, and stepfather while attending Wilson High School, where she quickly learned English and made many lifelong friends. Delia was admired for her vibrant personality, impeccable style, and natural beauty. Her creativity shined brightly, and she was even selected to model clothing that she personally designed and created while in high school. Following graduation, she attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College to study business and later pursued her interest in cosmetology at Marinello School of Beauty.

In 1963, Delia married James Dominguez in Las Vegas. Together they shared 34 years of marriage and built a loving family. Delia was the proud mother of three children: Rosalinda Twachtmann (Ted Twacthmann), Jaime Dominguez, and Lillian Cass (Robin Cass). Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren: Lisa Hinojosa, Christina Hill, James Dominguez, Parker Dominguez, Levi Cass, Diego Cass, and Emma Dominguez.  

Throughout her life, Delia was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She excelled in every role she held and formed meaningful relationships wherever she went. In the mid-1970s, she began working as a teacher's aide at Lincoln Elementary School in Anaheim, California. She later built a successful career as a collections agent, helping people navigate their financial obligations with patience, compassion, and understanding. Delia eventually retired from Mitsubishi in Cypress, California, doing what she enjoyed most: talking with people and building connections.

Delia was deeply involved in her children's schools, sports, and activities, and through the years she built an extensive circle of friends. She experienced both great joy and heartbreaking loss, including the passing of family members and several close friends during the AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. Yet through it all, she never lost her compassion for others. To Delia, everyone deserved kindness and friendship regardless of race, ethnicity, age, background, or personal circumstances. Her heart was open to all, and she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued.

She found beauty in life's simple pleasures. Delia loved tending to her garden, especially her roses and orchids. She enjoyed sitting outdoors listening to the gentle sounds of her fountain, smelling the fragrance of her flowers, and watching the many birds that visited her yard. She was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories.

On August 5, 2026, the day after celebrating her 85th birthday, Delia peacefully entered eternal rest and joined her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was reunited with her beloved mother, Frances; her grandmother, Alejandra; and the many cherished pets she loved throughout her life, including her cats, dogs, and birds.

Delia's legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by her family and friends.
